Why do we have to get OLD?
Sweet Grandpa Larsen is in the hospital. He went in because he was having problems breathing. Lucky me I got to hang with him most of Monday. We talked and shared stories, I read to him out of Grandma's Life Story Book.
He found out today that he has emphysema...yuck! He will probably have to have oxygen at home and the biggest blow to him...NO more driving (he told the doctors that he was still going to drive)! Poor Grandpa! He was so sweet and kind to the dear nurses and Dr.'s Monday. Whatever they asked him (This is the food on the menu for dinner, do you want it or do you want to choose something else? He would answer that is fine. Do you want water or milk? Water is fine!) I think the only thing he said that made us laugh was he flirted with the CUTE nurses and Dr.'s. It was obvious which ones he thought were cute!
I am so sad that he is having troubles breathing. He has been so healthy and strong. I hope this doesn't slow him down physically or with his happy spirit!
Just writing this makes me cry. I love him and don't want him to be in any pain or discomfort. Why do we have to get old?

Lindsey sprained her RIGHT thumb!
Monday afternoon I promised Cole we would go on a bike ride. Everyone wanted to go except Conner (Marley even went). The bike ride was great! As we were pulling our bikes into the garage a bike hanging from the ceiling fell and landed on Lindsey's right hand. She instantly started to cry (she doesn't cry easily). We put ice on it and gave her some CHEWABLE motrin and had her take it easy.
The next day it felt much better. She went to volleyball practice and when I picked her up it was obvious something was wrong. Once I finally got her to talk she started crying and said her hand really hurt (especially her thumb). I guess she bumped it again in practice and tried super hard to play volleyball even though it hurt really bad.
Wednesday I took her in and got x-rays. Luckily it is only sprained and the doctor said for her to take a week off volleyball to give it time to heal, BUMMER!

I love this OLD man...
While the Romney's were here in December we went and had lunch with Grandpa Larsen at Serrano's. He is so fun and just tells it how it is. He is full of stories (he has one heck of a good memory) and loves to talk about how much he loved Grandma and what a beautiful woman she was. He is a great example of serving the Lord (through temple work and fellowship the less actives). Enjoy the time we get together.

Hiking with Conner's 11 year old scout troop
I was lucky enough to go with Conner and a few of his buddies on a hike (Hieroglyphic Trail Canyon - 3.5 miles) for 11 year old scouts. I am so happy he still lets me tag along. Jared Price also came (Tallin's Dad). The boys loved hiking up the hieroglyphics. Some mom's would have freaked, but I tried to control my fears (remember I am trying to be a COOL mom).

Conner leaves Webelos!
Conner is one driven young man. He loves to be busy and active. He love scouts and is sad when he misses den meetings. In December he earned his Webelos badge, Religious Knot and ...

Sunday, January 31 Oma and Papa talked in their ward.
The subject: The Blessing of the Temple
One of Papa's favorite loves! They did an amazing job. I learned something new about Oma, she was sealed to her parents along with her sisters when she was a teenager (wow I bet it was neat for those who attended to see all 6 of the girls in white dresses).
Papa shared so many neat stories: I loved his reminder that Jesus walks the halls of the temples. Why would we not want to go visit there and do the Lord's work? I want my kids to know that I have a testimony of the temple and the eternal covenants we make there. Love you Papa and Oma, thanks for being such great examples!
