dIsCoUnT Movie Day

Today we went to the movies!
WALL-E
The ticket says it was PG 13, but it was a G movie!
We went the cheap route...popped popcorn from home, brought water bottles and stopped by Walgreen's and everyone got to choose a treat!
Lindsey invited her friend Olivia Knapp.
We had a fun time.
Cole started to lose it half way through,
so he and I went next door and watched KUNGFU Panda.
He ended up falling asleep the last 5 minutes.
It was a good day!

Came home to cub scouts at 5pm. Lindsey had young women softball at 6pm. Conner ended up spending the night with his friend Dallin Edwards and Lindsey over at Megan Hunt's house. Carly was sad, so she and I are having a sleep over. (That means she is sleeping in our my bed - Erik is at work all night!)

Fun day...I wonder what tomorrow will bring?!

Read the bottom line...

Conner and Carly's first time to go to the eye dr.
Can you believe I forgot my camera?
They did such a good job.
The air being shot in their eyes and all.
Great news...no glasses needed.
Their eyes are in great shape, yeah!

My city girls go to the country!

Lindsey and Carly left Saturday morning with Jodi to go to Pima. The Alders have built a roping arena and once a month hold a competition. I was suppose to go, but still don't feel 100% and thought the dirt and dust wouldn't be the best for me right now.

They had a blast! I guess they got to ride horses, see the new liter of St. Bernard puppies, help run the concessions and hang out!

Carly told me they had 3 momma dogs and one daddy dog. There were 4 new 3 week old puppies. She said, "Mom there were 3 momma dogs and I didn't know where the 4th momma was?" I guess you can tell our kiddos haven't been around a lot of baby animals. Lindsey had to teach her about animals and how they have liter's (more than one baby). One of those life lessons you forget or think your kids know.

Lindsey said one of her customers at the concessions was this boy. He just stood there, finally she said, "can I help you?" Then he just stood there. Finally she listed the items they had, "hamburger, hotdog, nachos, soda, candy." Finally he said, "I will have nachos, soda, and chips." She asked him what kind of "soda"? He asked her, "what is your favorite kind?" and she replied, "WATER". He said he'd take a "SPRITE". Gotta love those pima cowboys (teenagers)! Oh , is she really getting that age where boys like girls and girls like boys?
We told her she was the new girl in town! I think my grey hair has began to grow!

Carly said Jodi honked her horn the whole way through the tunnel. Lindsey said they took turns listening to each other's I-pods in the car. They had a great time. Jodi, thanks so much for taking the girls you are such a fun person! Love to hear Lindsey took good care of Carly (Carly's first time to be away from us over night/out of town) - she is such a good big sister!

Glad they are home!

Our fall break is here - NO school for two weeks!!

Saturday, September 27 "Ladies Night OUT!"

Ladies Night AGENDA:
Olive Garden
Chick flick - "Nights in Rodanthe"
Women's Broadcast

I had a fun time enjoying "ladies night out"! I love hanging with Mom and my sisters. We love to visit and share about life's adventures. We missed LaSchelle and Heather, will have to do it again soon! It is always nice to go out and not worry about our little ones.

Erik was home bonding with them. Actually it was just the boys - they got McDonald's and two movies (Over the Hedge & Star Wars). Thanks for supporting me and having fun with the boys.

Sunday, September 21 - Woke up SICK!

Uck... Cole was up most of the night crying his ears hurt and I felt like crap (sinus infection)!
Got the family off to 8am church and Cole and I went to the ER to get some medicine!
He has a double ear infection with a really red throat (possible strep)!
I have a sinus infection and a throat that is on fire.
Remember I only get sick like twice a year and both times it's a sinus infection. They stink! I am not very patient. Sunday night I just kept throwing up, we think I had a touch of the flu or something. Erik and his Dad gave me a blessing. The weird thing is I really struggled with sleeping all week long. I thought I would be able to sleep - and sleep a lot NO.
I was in bed for two full days and didn't get out of my PJ other than to go to the doctor again until Thursday. (Oh yes for one hour while I went to parent conferences on Wednesday)! I hate being down and feeling cruddy! My family isn't use to me being so lazy and having no energy. Erik was a huge help and so were the kids too.
Finally feeling better...if my ears would quite draining and my throat hurting. I am finally getting some energy.

Saturday, September 20 - temple, swimming, teen elect

Temple...Got up super early for a Saturday and went to the temple. I love the temple. I love the peaceful feeling I have when I am there. I love the sweet patrons that work there, who always make you feel special.
I love to be there and am grateful for the example my parents have always set of going to the temple often. I remember as a kid them getting in their Sunday best and grabbing their temple bags and off they would go. They did this a lot. When my dad was the Bishop his focus was the temple. He truly loves the temple and has a testimony of temple work. Made a quick stop to the bookstore and bought this book I have been eyeing. I love Hilary Weeks. Simple, easy read and motivational book (finished it way to quick)!
Swimming...Conner went to the Edwards to play, so after nap time we went swimming. Let me rephrase that Cole and Carly went swimming (water too cold), I read!
Carly's first time to swim since her broken arm - she was so happy!
Teen Elect....Lindsey loves being in Young Women's. They are always doing fun things. Today they learned proper etiquette, eating etiquette and how to appropriately dance with a boy. How it takes a lot of guts for a boy to ask you to dance "never" turn a boy down. Of course she had a blast, it was a stake event with lots of youth (boys)! I am so appreciate to the leaders who serve so diligently.

Friday, September 19 "GRANDPARENT DAY"

The kids feel so lucky to have great GRANDPARENTS! They are a huge support in whatever we do. The school hosted a bring your Grandparents to lunch day. Papa Larsen came and had lunch with Conner.
Papa Morris and Gramers came and had lunch with Carly. (Sad they didn't get their picture taken together!)
Thank you for taking time for us...we love you!

*she would do anything for her children.
*she has always worked in her kiddos classrooms and helps them achieve to the highest levels.
*she is a wonderful cook.
*she takes time for my kiddos.
*she goes camping even though getting dirty is one of her least favorite things.

Spencer are you one year older?

This will be my only blog entry on Lori's blog. I have known Spence since we were sophomores at Mesa High School. We have been best friends since we came off our missions. Spencer has been my best friend ever since, through our single years; best man at my wedding and so on. I love him like a brother and miss him as much since he moved to Washington and now he lives in Houston with Rani and the kids. I hope you had a great day buddy and look forward to getting some French Silk pie at Village Inn when I see you again! Happy Birthday Spence!!

Really MOM...

Wednesday night I told Carly to get into the bath tub!
She said, "really mom I can take a bath?
Can I get my arm wet and put my whole body under the water?"
"YEP, I replied hallelujah!"
While Carly had her cast on, taking a bath was a bit of a challenge. Her arm had to rest on top of the tub. Once her cast came off, for at least 5-7 days she could only take a shower.
She was so happy to be independent again at bath time. She was in our master bath and she just laid there under water relaxing and enjoying life!
You know that is a simple pleasure we take for granted.
I know I took for granted Carly's independence. So glad she can bath herself, dress herself and be independent.
"Really Mom..." happy Carly's arm is healing great!

What a gAMe!

Yesterday the Buccaneer's played against Willis Jr. High a tournament game. We played our hearts out. Won the first match, barely lost the second match and fought hard, but LOST the third match by two points. Each match was so exciting! Lindsey played amazing! She played pretty much the whole time. She got ALL her serves over and was so aggressive at the net. The team did great! Unfortunately we lost. I am so proud of Lindsey and know this was a growing year for her. GOOD season Buccaneers can't wait until next year.
Thanks to all that joined us to cheer Lindsey on.
Oma, Aunt Heather, Case

Carly, Brynn (both wore brown shirts/hair in pigtails!)
Aunt Lisa, Jodi Alder (cousin)
Conner, Jase, Oma, Crew

love you all and appreciate your love and support!

After the game some of us went to Peter Piper to celebrate a great season!

Lindsey was so sad they lost!

Tuesday's....

Every Tuesday we ladies (Oma, sister's and sister-in-law if available) get together for lunch. We use to go to Peter Piper and have their buffet, but found that we were up chasing kiddos and not much visiting was getting done. Today we went to Lisa's and the kids found Jase's FUN train.

These are always fun days if our kiddos cooperate...today Cole was on one so we left early.

Buccaneers WIN again...

yEaH bUcCaNnEeRs...
we now get to go to tournament play!
it was so fun Summer Edwards cheered at Lindsey's game! She is a dEaR friend of Lindsey's (comes from an amazing family)!

Faithful cheering section! Papa Larsen, Oma and Sienna thanks for all your support!

cHoCoLaTe...they found it in my bag before the game even started. I think it was even eaten before the game started. Gotta love them Cole, Kylee and Carly. Kylee was so cute, she sat on my lap and cheered as loud as I did (even when someone was serving, oops!)! It was a fun and exciting game - 3 matches had to be played the score was close most of the game. Lindsey did FABULOUS!

WARNING: Viewer Discretion Is Advised!

This post may contain graphic images of steel pins and tears.Step #1: Excited and happy to get cast and pins removed.Step #2: Cutting off PINK "sparkly" cast.Step #3: Removing cast Step #4: Took top part of cast off...waiting for surgeons assistant.
Nurse asks, "Carly do you want to keep your cast?"
Carly quickly replies, "NO!"
Nurse, "oh you want nothing to remind you this ever happened!"

Step #5: Bottom part of cast removed along with wrappings.

When Carly saw her pins for the first time she said, "LEAVE them in!"

Step #6: Turning Carly's head away from the procedure and putting my head up to hers to block the removal of pins.
Step #7: Tears shed...pins removed.
Step #8: All done...let's get out of here.
Step #9: Thanking the kind nurse and surgeon assistant.

They say, "GREAT job Carly, see you in 3 weeks!"

Step #10: Home, showing Dad the 3 pin holes.

No baths or soaking in hot water for 3-5 days. If any GREEN stuff comes out of pin holes call IMMEDIATELY! Step #11: The 3 pins that fixed Carly's cute little arm.

Everything went GREAT today! Carly freaked out when she saw the yellow cleaning solution on her arm, so we came home and took a shower and cleaned her arm up.

We are very grateful for modern technology and the skilled professions (and did I mention excellent INSURANCE?)!

Thank you Oma for watching Cole and for lunch!
