Went to my first autism parent support group Thursday night. Wow, these families are much more knowledgeable and experienced then I am. They were wonderful! Full of love and support willing to share all that they have learned. I left feeling a bit overwhelmed, but happy to know I had made some new friends that are willing to share and help me (us) along our journey.
Oh I am so happy for you! Support groups are wondeful because you get real life people who are dealing with the same issues you are dealing with. Glad you found a good one.
I am glad you were able to make it. It is great to be able to be around others who completely understand what you're going through and can give tips and advice.
“I don’t want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully tailored clothes, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone’s garden. I want to be there with children’s sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really there, and that I really lived.” M. Hinkley

That sounds wonderful that you have a support group that totally understands and can help you, too. Love ya, Aunt Joyce
YAY! Glad to see you went....I am sure that you will feel their support now and in time will DEFINATELY give that support to someone else!
